History Lesson! Who Are The Famous Artists You Look Up To?

Kaye Allen 5 years ago

The greatest painters of all time! I’m sure we’ve all already learned of their names or at least heard of them in passing (for those who didn’t pay attention in class, at least, and lives under a rock for that matter). Some, if not all of them here, might actually be your inspirations or idols for your own career. They HAVE made the greatest pieces on earth that are, to this day, still being remade and copied by artists who are practicing (and flexing).

So with that thought, here are the greatest painters of all time.

Vincent Van Gogh

The man who cut off his own ear. He created nearly hundreds (maybe thousands) or art pieces during his life! His most famous piece is Starry Night.

Leonardo da Vinci

The man who made the famous Mona Lisa! And the man who had a movie named after him and was played by Tom Hanks.

Michelangelo

No, not the ninja turtle, we mean the guy who has painted The Creation of Adam.

Rembrandt

This is the man that made the beautiful The Night Watch and Artemisia.

Pablo Picasso

Mister Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso himself. And yes, I wrote his full name down from memory and didn’t even have to look that up.

Claude Monet

A found of French Impressionist painting! This wonderful French painter made classics like The Japanese Footbridge and the Water Lily Pool and Sunrise.

Johannes Vermeer

This man makes beautiful and almost real-life paintings. An example is Girl with a Pearl Earring.

Caravaggio

An Italian painter who has made wonderful pieces! Such of which are Summer at Emmaus, Bacchus and The Calling of St Matthew.

Salvador Dali

This is the guy who made that weird yet really interesting painting called The Persistence of Memory, where floppy clocks are all over the place.

Raphael

Again, we aren’t talking about the ninja turtle. This painter is the one who made Sistine Madonna and Saint George and the Dragon.

Pierre-Auguste Renoir

A French dude with a cool name but that’s just my opinion. He made Bal du Moulin de la Galette.

Diego Velázquez

A Spanish painter whose style is what I’m biased on. He made Portrait of Mother Jeronima de la Fuente.

Edvard Munch

My main man! The one who invented the very famous The Scream, which has been memed for numerous times.

Gustav Klimt

He made Adele Block-Bauer I and II, Beethoven Frieze, Danaë and The Kiss. He was also very much associated with Vienna Secession, Symbolist literature and Art Nouveau.

Henri Matisse

His works were Madras Rouge, Green Stripe, Les Toits de Collioure, Blue Nude II and Woman with a Hat. Sure does take you back to read all these names, huh?
