How To Be A Better Photographer

Kaye Allen 5 years ago

If you’re an aspiring photographer, then you should at least look at his article to not just get you started, but to also get tips on how to BE good at it.

Photography is art, you know? It may take way less time than, say, painting. But it still is an art form. It is painting made easier because of gadgets and such. But just because it’s become easier to do so it doesn’t mean that anyone actually has a talent for it. Just because you have an expensive camera, it doesn’t mean you are photographer, like how anyone can own a pen but they aren’t technically a writer.

So how does one become GOOD at taking photos?

TAKE THE PICTURE

Yes, first of all, do so. There is no point if you don’t the shot, yes? Don’t be afraid to make bad shots since you won’t be able to learn if you don’t even try. Just take the picture.

DON’T OBSESS OVER EQUIPMENT

Yes, equipment DOES help, but they aren’t the ones that are actually making the shots look good. It’s all on you. The way you angle yourself and see if the photos would look good in certain angles.

USE THE TOOLS YOU HAVE AVAILABLE

Don’t stress over what you don’t have. Make use of what you DO have, okay? Depending on how creative you can get, you will do a spectacular job.

TAKE PICTURES, EVEN WHEN YOU DON’T WANT TO

Don’t go with the mood. Go with what you see. Even if you aren’t in the mood to take pictures, know that you WILL get good photos. From experience, I learned that my photos actually turn out great in the events that I DON’T want to take photos.

GO WHERE THE PEOPLE AREN’T

Photo-bombers are what ruin great shots. We can’t help but get them anyway because people are everywhere. So go and take photos where there are no people.

LOOK FOR SOMETHING INTERESTING IN THE MUNDANE

Sometimes you can find the most beautiful scenes in the most mundane places and situations. Besides, if you’re bored then might as well practice the photography skills, right?

RECOGNIZE A HAPPY ACCIDENT

Some of the best moments are accidents put into photos. Recognise those said accidents and take photos of them.

WAIT A WHILE BEFORE YOU DELETE PHOTOS

It might not look good for the first few seconds and minutes you stare at the photo, but give it time and look at it again. See if it really is bad after a day or two then delete it.

GET COMFORTABLE WITH MANUAL SETTINGS

No filter and no other edited adjustments. Get comfy with the manual settings. That is also how you practice your own skills. If you can make shots look beautiful if the settings are normal, then you can make anything look good.
